Paragraph Writing Exersise 2

Why do people lie?

There are two reasons why people lie. Firstly, to tell a lie gains us personal power. If unfortunate things happen, we can defend ourselves. For example, when we make some mistakes, we can manage to smooth things over for the moment by telling a lie. We don’t have to be embarrassed. Furthermore, it makes ourselves look as we may be a firm person, even if we don't have confidence on our own ability. Lies help us to get confidence. In addition, if we tell a lie, we will make a effort to make the lie come true, so sometimes a lie helps us to develop ourselves. Secondly,we often tell a lie for other people. When something in convenient happens to friends (or family), we tell a lie so as not to hurt them because we don’t want them to feel sad. In addition, lies can not only defend other people, but also encourage them. When our friends worry about something, lies can give encouragement to our friends. To tell a lie is sometimes improves relationships with other people. From these things, we realize that to tell a lie is one of the important skills people use to protect important things for themselves.

Hi,Yuri!!

I respect your thought in that telling a lie in order to achieve personal power also has a good aspect. I believed it was not good because people try to cover up such kind of lie and tell another lies. But I realize it is not always bad.Your writing has told me! You have a point there. I agree with your idea.
Your second supporting idea is one which has never occurred to me. There is nothing bad about your composition. So I'm afraid it must be improper , but I suggest you use a few examples in your 2nd supporting point, and your paragraph writing will be more intelligible.

I'm sorry I cannot give you any good advice...
I am looking forward to reading your next writing!

Hi,Yuri.

I agree with you. I think your ideas of lie are very interesting. I realized we often tell a lie daily after I read your paragraph. I especially admired your opinion that sometimes a lie helps us to develop ourselves. You indicate the good point of a lie gains us personal power. I couldn't notice the good side of it. I want to model your view.

I'm looking forward to seeing your next paragraph, too.
